
The Application of Vorticity-Tuning Method to the Numerical Study on the Flow Field in Tangentially Fired Furnace

Abstract: Vorticity is a basic parameter of the fluid flow.
Vortices occur as basic phenomena and are looked as the basic structure of turbulence.
This paper proposed a new numerical method, called as the method of vorticity tuning, on
the basis of J . C. Wu's research. The velocity and vorticity fields in a tangentially
fired furnace were computed by the new method. The computed velocity field was basically
consistent with the experiment. In comparison with the SIMPLE algorithm, the n ew method
is superior under the same condition of the net.
