Field Test Method for Determination of Stiffness Parameters of Joints

Abstract: The joint element model proposed by Goodman is widely used in rock mechanics and rock engineering. The accuracy of the modeling is, however, depend on the proper determination of the joint stiffness K_n and K_s£¬¡¡which is very difficult to get in lib test. A method is proposed in this paper to calculate K_n and K_s by the field supersonic wave test.
