Abstract: Based on the general theory of the one-dimensional elastic wave, the analytical solution of the stress wave propagation in the bar with unhomogenous regions and various sections is obtained. This solution's feasibility is checked by the two-dimensional axis-symmetric finite element method. Using this method, the law of the stress wave propagation is revealed. Especially for the bar with internal interfaces (i.e. connection regions), the equivalent simplified analysis is gained. The analysis shows the connection regions have an important role on the stress wave propagation.
