£Ábstract: A modified low Reynolds number
k-¦Åturbulence model applicable to separated flow recently
developed in£Û£µ£Ý is used for the calculation of turbulent
separated flow in pipe expansion, particularly for the numerical study on turbulent flow
in the regions near the wall and neighboring to the reattachment point. It is shown
theoretically that this turbulence model satisfies the near wall asymptotic behavior while
avoiding ¦Ìt¡Ô£° in the whole section across the reattachment point. Comparisons with
available measurements and the numerical results by previously developed k-¦Åturbulence model show that the adopted model is superior to other low
Reynolds number k-¦Å models on the prediction of reattachment
point and the flow field neighboring to it.
