Abstract: A hybrid control scheme for vibration control of smart beams is
presented in which the passive control method is used to suppress the vibration with large
amplitude by taking advantage of the supper elasticity of shape memory alloy, and the
active control method is used simultaneously to perform precise control by using
distributed segmented piezoelectric sensors and actuators. The simulation results show
that control effect of the hybrid method is much better than that of the distributed
piezoelectric element method itself.
