Analysis of Thermal Stresses in a Ceramic/Cemented Carbide Compact

Abstract:  The formulas are derived for the residual normal stress and the interface shear thermal stress resulting from differential expansion in ceramic/ cemented carbide compact. The factors causing cracks which are parallel or vertical to the interface are analyzed, and the onclusions are beneficial for the design of bimaterials.
