Distribution of Elastic-Plastic Field on Circular Rings Containinga Rounded Tip V-Notch under Incline Compressive Load

Abstract:  This paper is mainly concerned about the elastic-plastic behavior near the top of a V-notch situated at the inner radius of a circular ring. The stress and strain fields are calculated under different compressive load level, different incline angle and different notch tip radius by the finite element analysis. The relationship between the notch tip radius and the size and shape of the plastic zone near the top of notch is obtained. In order to check the result of numerical analysis, an experiment has been carried out by using Moire Interferometry method. The result of calculation is corresponding to the experimental data.
