
Calculation of Flow in Centrifugal
Impeller Using Fintie Element Method

Abstract: The objective of this paper is to calculate the invisible,
subsonic, compressible and steady
flow in a centrifugal impeller by using the finite element method and offer some
references for the
research of this subject.Taking the stream function as the solution varable, this paper
deduces the
partial differential equations obeyed by stream function on an arbitrary surface, est
ablishes corres-
ponding finite element equations by using the Galerkin Method.One example is used to
verify the
method and the program of this paper. The flow on the surface of revolution in a
centrifugal impeller
is calculated. Numerical results reveal correctly the flow in a centrifugal impeller and
offer some refe-
rences for the engineering design.
