Optimal Shape Control of Multilayered Piezoelectric Beam-Plate Structure

Abstract: Based on the finite element formulation of laminated structures, the coupled electro-mechanical program is developed. A sandwich beam with embedded piezo actuators and a plate with surface-mounted piezo actuators are modeled to realize the optimal shape control regarding size and voltage as the design parameters. Results derived from zero order and first order algorithms shows the effectiveness of the program. The conclusion can be applied to optimal designing and shape control for smart structures.
