Abstract: The dynamic property of fluid film bearing-rotor system supported on a squeeze film damper are investigated with a nonlinear model. Runge Kutta method and the Poincaré mapping method are adopted to evaluate the response and bifurcation in the system of squeeze film damper-sliding bearing-soften rotor. It is shown from the calculational results that the system remains stable within a certain range of rotating speed or quasi-period, bifurcation and chaos appear with the changed rotating speed, which provides reference for engineering design of SFD-sliding bearing rotor system.
Keywords: sliding bearing, soften rotor; squeeze film damper, dynamic property.
