Numerical Simulation to Flow Field in Electrostatic Cyclone Separator

Abstract: A numerical investigation was carried out to simulate the flow field in a tangenitial inlet cyclone separator with corona electrode. Under the body-fitted coordinates the flow field of electrostatic cyclone separator (ECS) was evaluated with non-staggered SIMPLE algorithm based on the modified twrbulence mo del. And the effects of corona electrode installed at different position on three-dimensional speed distribution inside ECS are discussed. Installing corona electrode between cylinder and outlet duct and sufficiently closed to the latter obviously facilitates the separation.
