Abstract: Excavation of lager cavern in high
stress domain leads to a stress-concentration and widened plastic-area, so the probability
of rock burst, and uns tability of rock mass are obviosly increased. Taken a lage
underground power house as an example, the influences of 3 different shapes arches on the
nearby stress distribution are analyzed in detail. The computional results indicate the
remarkable effects that the highest stress concentration coefficient even reaches to 3.33;
and the concentration is unavoidable whatever the arch shapes are, the ellipse shaped arch
is regarded as the best.
Keywords: high land stress, large cavern, arch shape optimization, the
