Abstract: A method for dynamic response of dam
to river flow is proposed with FLUENT and ANSYS software. To simulate the water surface,
the VOF model is chosen , three cases of different waterfalls are taken to investigate the
dynamic loads to the dam. It can be found that even for steady incident flow, the pressure
on the damsurface wavy due to the turbulence, the lower frequency pressure tends to steady
as the downstream elevationrises. Then the data are input into ANSYS platform as exciting
force, and the numerical results of dam modal analysis coincide with the experimental ones
very well.
