Abstract: Based on the analogy between converse
piezoelectric effect and thermoe lastic effect, an applied electric field is input as a
thermal load and piezoele ctric strain coefficients characterizing an actuator are modeled
as thermal expansion coefficients, thus thermoelastic finite element method can be
employed to analyze converse piezoelectric effect. A feasible methodology to predict the
static and dynamic behaviors of complex structures with piezoelectric actuators is
proposed. The numerical examples confirm the validity.
