Scheme for Multidimensional Hyperbolic Systems of Conservation Laws

Abstract: based on a central weighted
essentially non-oscillatory (CWENO) recon struction, a fourth-order semi-discrete scheme
for multidimensional hyperbolic systems of conservation laws is presented. The local speed
of wave propagation in the Riemann fans is considered to avoid staggering between two
grids. This semi-discrete scheme is situated between upwind scheme and central scheme with
a lower numerical dissipation. As an extension of third-order, semi-discrete method of
Kurganov et al, the higher resolution and robustness of this scheme are demonstrated via
several numerical examples.
