Force Density with Applications to Tensility Structures

Abstract: With the wider applications of
membrane structures, the requirements to shape design become more multifarious. The force
method, which is introduced t he concept of surface force density of membrane element, is
used to find the for m of tensility strcutres. This method enables to quickly find the
individual form to different force density under the same boundary conditions. The
optimized reposition balance method for force-finding analysis usually is employed to acc
urately evaluate the self-balance prestress of tensility structures. So a combi nation of
the force method of surface force density with the optimized reposition balance method,
facilitates completing whole process of shape design.
