Abstract: Macroscopic mechanical properties of
engineering rock mass, especially the maximum load-bearing capacity is one of the most
basic and difficult task of rock mechanics. The effect of the lateral pressure on maximum
load-bearing capacity of rock block investigated numerically, the relations between
lateral pressure and the maximum load-bearing capacity are acquired, the acoustic emissi
on rules of rock block with the change of lateral pressure are found out, which is
practially beneficial for the research on the macroscopic mechanical properties of rock
mass.
