Theoretical and Experimental Study to Mechanism of Aerodynamic Drag Reduction of Container Truck with #-Shaped Fences

Abstract: The effects of the gap between the cab and the container, the height and the location of the fences on drag coefficient were studied. The quantitative relationship between geometrical parameters of the container truck, drag-reducing attachments and aerodynamic drag coefficient is obtained by analyzing valuable data acquired from the calculation and experiment. Synthesized the computational and experimental results, the flowing mechanism of the flow field around the container truck and the drag-reducing mechanism of #-shaped fences on the truck are revealed, which provides a theoretical guidance to the aerodynamic formation designing and amelioration.
