
Semi-analytic Method for
Nonlinear Seismic Response of Layered Foundations with Exponential Function Shear Modulus

Abstract: Combined with the extended Masing's
rules, the dynamic constitutive re lationship is employed to evaluate the nonlinear
hysteretic property of soil mat erial under transient or cyclic loadings. Incremental
method and the general solution to linear seismic response of layered foundations with
exponential function shear modulus are synthesized to develop a seimi-analytic calculating
technique for nonlinear dynamic problem, and a nonlinear analysis procedure is presente
dand numerically implemented to simulate seismic response of this sort of found ations. A
practical example is analyzed to confirm the validity.
