
Analysis of a Rubber Wedge Contacting with a Rigid Notch

Abstract: A new strain energy function is used to analyze a rubber wedge contacting with a rigid notch. The singular behavior of stress and strain near the wedge tip is revealed. The singularity exponent is expressed by the rubber wedge angle and the notch angle and material constant. The numeric solution is also obtained by finite element method, which is consistent with the theoretical results.
