Abstract: Based on existing methods for solving the problem of optimal control with the aid of cell mapping, a new approach is proposed for searching optimal control path. Such an approach is established through the agency of the skill of a negative steplength and reverse numerical integration. The efficiency of solving the problem of optimal control can be improved greatly by virtue of this new approach, particularly, for some systems with the uncontrollable field or a large scale cell space. Compared with Hsu's method, our approach can save time so much as one order of magnitude, moreover, the computed result is reliable. Consequently, this new approach can be a powerful tool for solving the optimal control in engineering application. It is believed that it can be potentially applied to high dimension optimal control systems.
