Design and Experimental Investigation on a Forward Air-Separator in an Axial-F low Compressor

Abstract: The influence of structural parameters of forward air-separator on the efficiency and stall margin of an axial flow rotor has been investigated in de tail in this paper. The main geometrical parameters, i.e., separator ring forward clearance, separator forward axial position and the angle of steady vanes, have been optimized respectively and their effects on efficiency and stall margin have been analyzed. The experimental results indicate that the separator ring for ward clearance and the angle of steady vane have strong effects on performance of the rotor. The mechanism that forward air-separator affects the rotor perform ance is analyzed.
