Abstract: The lattice Boltzmann method is used to simulate numerically the sedimentation of cylindrical particles in the wallª²bound flow field. The results show that the existence of wall causes the particles leave the region of near wall and move to the center of pipe. The moving velocity of particle decreases with the increase of distance from wall. The particle does not necessarily stay in the center of pipe. The sedimentation velocity of particle becomes larger with the increase of the distance from the wall. So the wall has an effect of hindering the sedimentation of particles. The effect of wall parallel to the particle axis is more obvious than that of wall perpendicular to the particle axis.
