A New Generalized Conforming Element for Thin/Thick Plate

Abstract: Based on the 8-node element of medium/thick plate, this paper builds up a new type of generalized conforming element by means of introducing generalized conforming condition of shear strain and displacement. It not only retains the distinguishing feature of original element being applicable to medium/thick plate, but also gives a more precise result of thin plate. The new element is applicable to both thin and thick plates.
