Abstract: The continuum theory of the constitutive equation of liquid crystalline polymer (LCP) can be developed on basis of the
co-rotational Oldroyd B fluid[1กซ6]. In the present investigation the constitutive equation of
co-rotational Oldroyd B fluid is used to study the spinning process of
LCP. The analytical formulas of stress and extensional viscosity of viscometric-extensional flow and an ordinary differential equation for the flow dominating
extention are derived from the constitutive equation, boundary conditions. By using software Matlab, the ordinary differential equation is solved and the change of the extensional viscosity and axial extentional rate with material parameters are given by figures, and the influence of the parameters on the rheological
behaviour is disscussed for the fibre spinning of the co-rotational Oldroyd B fluid.
