Friction Characteristics of Oscillatory Laminar Flow in Straight Tube

Abstract: The profile of axial velocity, cross-sectional-mean velocity, power dissipation and frictional characteristics of oscillatory tube flow arisen by harmonic pressure gradient are investigated analytically. A formula for fanning frictional efficient of oscillatory tube flow is developed by expanding that for unidirectional steady tube flow. The theoretical results show a good agreement with that of experiments.
