Abstract: In this paper, a Jeffcott rotor against oil film bearing is investigated. And the effect of the oil film force on the rubbing rotor is analyzed too. Comparing with the rigid supported rotor, it is found that the film force heavily affects the response of the rotor and to some extent restricts or aggravates the rub-impact faults. So, to diagnose the rub-impact faults of a practical rotor, the bearing condition must be taken into account and a dynamic nonlinear model must be set up too. Moreover, the results also show that the rubbing rotor is not sensitive to the bearing parameters. All these may be useful to diagnose rub-impact faults of a practical rotor.
