Abstract: With the rub-impact of rotating-state taken into account, the transverse and torsional  coupled vibration of a Jeffcott rotor system supported on SFD is investigated in this article. The motion equation of the syste m is derived and the influence of all kinds of parameters to the response of the system is analyzed. It is demonstrated that the response of the system is influenced very apparently by the stiffness of rub-impact. With the growth of the rub-impact stiffness, the periodic solution of the system becomes unstable. The response becomes violent with the growth of unbalance. The phenomenon of rub-impact, which results instability of the periodic solution, is easily in being. When the torsional stiffness grows, the amplitude and speed of the torsional angle are both changed. When the torsional stiffness is relatively small, the amplitude of torsional angle changes slowly. With the growth of torsional stiffness, the amplitude changes more quickly. When the stiffness grows to certain extent, the torsional angle changes slowly again. It is found that there are two routes leading the response to chaos, the intermittence to chaos and quasi-period to chaos.
